Curatorial Statement

Artists and projects represent nominations by Partner Radio Stations next to complementing commissions, focusing on creating matches and balances.  On the whole, the curatorial concept centers around an effort of linking processes and artists and encouraging collaborations.

Participants combine various practices and methods noted within the contemporary radio art movement and sound scenes, as well as distinctly differing work-backgrounds.

Works had been encouraged to position themselves as medial performances, rather than musical pieces; strictly audio and strictly live, appearing in everyday radioland as a kind of geographical utopia. And indeed, artists have developed a variety of solutions and interpretations of this setting, of simultaneity and of live.

As the contemporary live-TV-spectacles often are believed to be a format of the future and for certain, live-image and live-audio will remain the main characteristics of radio and TV, it is exactly the design vocabulary of such live formats, which artists are working on, broadening the meaning of live and taking sides with the potentials and beauty of audio.
